The Twitter account of a Hollywood producer tweets female character intros revealing the sexist nature of the descriptions. The account, @femscriptintros, does not reveal the specific script or character, but rather changes each character name to “Jane.”
Some of the tweets include “JANE looks sexy in her gym gear as she works up a sweat,” “Enter JANE, early to mid 30’s, dressed in a form fitting power suit. She has the body of a teenager and the face of a star,” and “JANE, 30s, is cute but could be hot if she made an effort,” to name a few.
These examples show the pervasive sexism in the film industry, which has been highlighted through the #MeToo movement as more victims of sexual harassment have spoken up over the last year.
