Oregon Man Alleges Religious Discrimination Following Termination

An Oregon man alleges he was terminated for complaining to his boss about being required to participate in a Bible study during company work hours. When he complained to his boss that he believed this to be illegal, his boss disagreed.

The company’s owner does not dispute that he required his employees to attend Bible studies, but believes he was justified in doing so because the employees were being paid for their time spent in the session.

The employee has filed a religious discrimination claim pursuant to the Oregon Workplace Religious Freedom Act.
