Former Paralympic Athlete Alleges Disability Discrimination

A former Paralympic athlete from Bend, Oregon is suing Home Depot for disability discrimination, alleging that Home Depot did not consider take into consideration her disability when it fired her in 2017.

The employee’s lawsuit alleges that after suffering a concussion during a fall at work, she was terminated for leaving presentation materials in her car overnight. She alleges the value of those materials was only $11.

The employee suffered a traumatic brain injury in 1982 when competing for a spot on the U.S. Cycling Team. She went on to participate as a Paralympic athlete before beginning her job at Home Depot in 2006.
